City Lights
In his Manchaha carpet, Usman beautifully captured the vibrant city lights. The entire piece showcases the presence of energy (electricity) everywhere. He began by weaving water in the background with the shades of blue, symbolizing its use in creating electricity. Usman's imagination then took him to all corners of the city where this energy flows. He added sparkly lights to adorn the carpet using multi-coloured wool and silk. Next, he hand-knotted a bullet train rushing at lightning speed, followed by the city's bridges. On top of the bridges, he created a string of shapes representing the countless people bustling around the city. Usman continued to weave, adding a railway goods train and finally the illuminated city buildings. At the top right corner, he intricately hand-wove the electricity power house and towers, carefully incorporating each light creating a one of a kind hand-knotted rug. Usman has created a breath-taking masterpiece that captures the magic of the "City Lights".
