The Design Story
do beheno ka pyaarDo Beheno ka PyaarLove conquers everything. Sibling love is unbreakable love. But it's not often spoken about. This carpet is one such token of love. It is called “Do Beheno ka Pyaar” meaning “The love of two sisters” This hand-knotted rug is Gayathri and Suman’s first Manchaha. They had to pause the work various times and yet they kept going. They divided the carpet into two halves which are clearly visible in the carpet. This carpet is weaved so intricately, a quality of 121 knots in one square inch! The weavers were so attentive in their weaving and with time it kept getting easier as they moved forward with the work together. It was Summer when they weaved. They designed hearts, waves, stripes, and random designs. They laughingly admit that there are designs of ‘Kaju Katli’ - The Indian Sweet. They have used subtle colours of yarn. It is amusing that this carpet is a well-coordinated work of the sisters as they announce that they never fought over the carpet. Well, that's the power of love.
