Visit on your ownManchaha is an idea born from dreams and of dreams. It represents a creative utopia, one where artistic expression reigns, free from any limitation or constructs of pattern, order or logic. It has subverted what a carpet can be in the best way possible; by interpreting it more freely.
This exhibition cum residency is a telling of the Manchaha story- of the creation of a new wave of artists from rural India who are weaving their aspirations, experiences and dreams into their creations. In a world of increasing mindlessness, over consumption and imitation; the carpets of Manchaha shine a light on absolute originality woven through industry waste, elevating the perspective and prospects of both the weaver and their works of art, treading softly on earth, and imploring the same of you.
What the heart wants in this world of obsession?
The coming together of Manchaha and Dhun ask this question.
For both of them, they ask of you just one thing, Tread Softly…
Manchaha
Manchaha are woven wonders where creativity thrives using industry wastes. Shaping to be a cultural movement connecting rural India to the world. A poetic narration of everyday lives and emotions of its makers.
Freedom Manchaha
Freedom Manchaha is a lease of life for long term prisoners in jails in Rajasthan. The skills of weaving help to express and release emotions while they equip themselves to ease back into community living.
