Ganpati BappaDesign Story: This rug was woven by Kavita with her sister Norti and her mother Bugali Devi. The rug features ‘Ganpati’(Lord Ganesha) on each side of the rug towards the top. While weaving the rug, the trio used to discuss the elements that were they liked and thus, the rug design is the reflection of their collective thoughts. Kavita’s sister has added ‘Khajur ke patte’(palm tree leaves) to the design. Similarly, her mother weaved flower motifs into the rug. There is a ‘Damru’ in the center of the rug, which is a symbol of Lord Shiva. It took them 20 days to complete the rug. They all are devotees of Lord Ganesha, and hence decided to name the rug as ‘Ganpati Bappa’.
