Harinarayan and has wife Champa are a happy couple with 2 daughters, a son, 5 goats and 2 baby goats in their home at Aaspura village of Rajasthan. While the eldest daughter is married, the younger children are pursuing BA in education. The couple has been weaving for more than 2 decades now but has never gotten a chance to make their own design. Excited to have this opportunity, the couple has now woven multiple designs for artisan collection.
Weaver-Designer Champa, wove this rug with her husband Harinarayan taking inspiration from the articles which she uses in her daily life. The design at the bottom of the rug is inspired from her colorful Sarees and Stoles. The center the rug is adorned with some ‘Kalash’ (clay pots which are used to keep water cool) motifs. The weaver couple often sips ‘masala chai’ (tea) together, when the breeze is cool and they depict this through the waves on top of the rug. They call their rug ‘Satrangi’ which means colorful, because they believe that their lives are full of colors.
To the owner of this rug“I love flowers and flower pots too which I weave on my carpet just for you”.
