Deepa lives with her family in Narhet village in Rajasthan. A mother of three, Deepa has 2 sons and 1 daughter. Her husband works as a mason in the village. She likes carpet weaving as it gives her freedom to work from home while taking care of her family.
Hara Bhara Sa
Deepa’s rug is a story of motherhood. When she started weaving , Deepa was pregnant with her third child. While making the rug, she used to think of the coming days. Her excitement to meet her young one was boundless, and the busy design represents the eager restlessness she was experiencing during the process. The colorful arrows represent the countless thoughts which were running through her mind. Will it be a girl or a boy? What will she name her child? What would her child look like? When the rug was about to be completed, Deepa gave birth to a baby boy. Taking a month’s rest to tend to her newly born child, she returned to the rug with joy, and completed the design. She calls the rug ‘Hara Bhara’ as it is filled with colorful design, similar to the thoughts going on in her mind while weaving the rug.
