Hansa Devi and Savitri Devi have been weaving from past 2 decades in a village called Aaspura. They are very happy to be associated with Jaipur Rugs from past 5 years and are satisfied that with their work and financial contribution they have been able to manage their families successfully. Their husbands are daily workers and support them in their passion for weaving. Hansa and Savitri are blessed to be born with 3 children and 4 children, respectively. Unlike other weavers making rugs of their own design, Hansa and Savitri like to knot following a map as they find it easier to do.
The friend-weaver duo, Hansa Devi and Savitri Devi got inspired to design this rug from the beauty they observed in nature during their daily walks to fetch water for homes in the morning. They are fascinated by the open lands, with trees and bushes all over. The sweet scent of flowers and the constant chirping of the birds sitting on the branches of trees, called Daali in Hindi, enchant them so much that they brought all these elements to life in their rug design. Some common objects from their lives, like a village pot called Kalash in the local language and a small wooden seat called Chowki have also been woven on the rug.
To the owner of the rug “Only a beautiful heart, mind and soul can appreciate the beauty of nature.”
