Manju Devi lives in Samarthpura with her daughter, 2 sons and 2 goats. She misses her husband who is working as a gardener in Dubai. She is proud to mention that her husband is working 'abroad'. Our 30 year old weaver has worked all day and woven this rug in a mere span of 20 days. She likes to weave because it gives her a sense of independence and helps her in moving forward day after day. Her favourite colours are blue and green.
Manju Devi, has taken inspiration from the objects around her to design this rug. On the bottom of the rug, she has woven patterns of janjeera, commonly found on textiles in Rajasthan. She has drawn the beauty she saw in a corn (Makke) on its husk and mentions that it looks like a blooming flower. One can also see lotus flowers been woven on the rug. She has made rows of tiny trees and creepers that she sees around her house in the village.
To the owner of the rug "This rug will bring blessings and prosperity in your home".
