Koshalya devi is grown up in a farmer’s family and being born in nature’s lap, she found herself more attached to nature. She lives with her husband and five daughters. She has been weaving since past 30 years now, while her husband works as a farmer and mason in the village.
Jai Laxmi MataKoshalya has weaved this rug with her daughter as a part of recreational activity after her examination. While making the rug they got to spend a lot of time together and the same playfulness and joy can be seen in the design of the rug as well. They were initially not sure of what to make so they took inspiration from the wild foliage and ferns to weave that into a beautiful design. Then they mutually decided to add a diagonal flowing pattern which will break the design and will amplify the beauty of the rug. Further taking inspiration from her surroundings where she can see sectional division of land for ploughing, thus they further decorated the rug with patched land. They named the rug ‘Jai Laxmi Mata’, as they both worship Goddess Laxmi at their home every day and this opportunity has come like a blessing to them. So, they thank god that now they can call themselves as “artist weavers”.
