Step 2 - Share Your Design Brief

Daughter Kavita gave design suggestions to her mother Maya for this Manchaha. They started with the shakkarparas at the bottom and as it turned out beautiful they altered their size to weave them in  clusters. Inspired from the majestic Aravali ranges they weaved the mountains in their rug. Kavita was constantly thinking of things that she can add in her rug to make it beautiful so she added a lehariya pattern and made a big diamond as well. Their Manchaha is a dreamy combination of different patterns that they thought would make the rug beautiful. 

Maya the most loving grandmother as per her relatives, dedicates this rug to her grandson: Pranjal. Summer calls for a vacation to your village, which indirectly ranges to an alarming demand of sweets and chocolates from the grandmother. This time it was maggiee for him, below the rug you see red-green-blue-yellow and many more curved criss-cross lines which refers to the noodles which Maya prepared with wool and silk. The Manchaha has all the small token of love she gifted her grandson; the surprising element is the bed of colour with patterns that brings you a visual treat.

Parvat which translates to ‘mountain’ is how Kavita describes her Manchaha. She was once travelling to Jaipur where she saw these mountains on the way and since then it became her dream to trek. In her Manchaha, she has woven three mountains which clearly resonates with her dream. Moreover, the weavers have incorporated some traditional designs such as shakarparas, leheriya, flowers and leaves on to the rug.

The initial phase of the rug started with local Leheriya patterns then, arrived the rainy season and so was a new design. The notorious group of three went on to weave free flowing water and drizzles of rain. Soon, it was the birthday of their friend so Kavita and the group started their celebration on the rug. They weaved balloons, speakers, gifts, scrumptious food and of course, birthday cake at the center.
