The Space

The Symbol of a Man in a City on a River is a 2000-square-foot apartment in the old city centre of Samara. Featuring panoramic windows laid along the length of the river Volga echos the embankment and the expanse of the river, the west-facing apartment gets filled with a warm pink hue at sunset and creates a visually pleasing and comfortable living area.

The Purpose

The homeowners are artistic restauranteurs and travel enthusiasts who wanted the designer to craft a distinguished space inspired by their travels. The decor is influenced by their memories of the interiors of their favorite coffee shops, cafes, and hotels from around the world.

The Art

A rhythm design was taken as the basis for the design. The interior is laid along a rhythmic grid of lines and planes, reflecting the intersecting lines on the horizon with the Volga river, city roads, and the houses visible in the neighborhood. The rhythmic grid is consistent throughout the Space: in decorative and functional light lines, in the texture, and even in the color of the planes.
