The Design Story
"saras ki nazar""Saras Ki Nazar"Koshalya Manchaha "Saras Ki Nazar" (Crane’s Eyes) showcases the beautiful sight of crane birds hunting for the fishes in the sea using their incredible eyesight. Through her creativity she describes how the cranes are highly focused and attentive during their hunt, and a small mistake in timing could ruin their chances of catching their prey. During one of her visits to her hometown, Koshalya crossed the chambal river and witnessed a bunch of cranes hunting for food alongside the river. This incident became her inspiration and she wove a group of cranes flying above the sea in blue in this beautifully hand-knotted silk rug. At the bottom of her Manchaha she started weaving a variety of fishes using colorful yarns and created a zig-zag pattern to represent them. To enhance the beauty of her surroundings, she decorated the rest of her artwork with mountains and an open blue sky.
