The Design Story
din raat ki kalpanaDin Raat ki KalpanaSunita, Manisha, Pooja, and Neeru's Manchaha, "Din Raat ki Kalpana," is a unique portrayal of the transition of their thoughts from day to night. To depict the essence of daytime, they started weaving with light colored yarns, but as they moved forward, they skillfully shifted to dark colors, representing the night. Throughout their manchaha, they have skillfully balanced their encounter with real-life events during the day to an imaginative shift of their nightly thoughts. Sunita's contribution (Middle part) truly reflects her love for nature and animals. Her artistic talent shines through her creations of buffaloes, birds, and trees weaved with the intricate hand-knotting technique. Animals hold a special place in her heart which she beautifully adorned with wool and silk on her rug. With complete dedication and foresight, she would plan her designs a day ahead, ensuring what she would weave next. Apart from the natural elements, she has thoughtfully included scenes of humans sitting on "khaats," proudly illustrating her village life. On the other hand, Manisha, Neeru, and Pooja adorned both sides of the Manchaha with delicate and detailed patterns. Inspired by the objects around them, they wove weighing scales, flowers, and trees. Their keen observation of everyday life enriched their designs, making this Manchaha a perfect balance of reality and what the future holds for us.
