The Design Story

mahal ki sajawat

Mahal ki Sajawat
Madan and Shimla’s Manchaha "Mahal ki Sajawat" ( The Palace Decor) reflects their imaginative minds. While Madan's wife wanted to weave a castle, Madan chose to focus on weaving the decor inside the castle. They first created the castle's exterior at the bottom of their Manchaha with brown and black wool yarns and then dedicated a significant portion of their work to the interior by weaving huge patterns that would be painted on the walls of the castle using the hues of gold and copper silk yarns to decorate the lavishly ornate building. Madan also wove beautiful mountain scenery that would be visible to the kings and queens from their castle. Throughout their weaving madan seeked inspiration from the Indian cinemas which he is very fond of. Their Manchaha perfectly captures the essence of the kingdom's historic days and lifestyle.
