The Design Story
sunehri leherSunehri LeherSeema, Shivanshi, Sayogita, and Shivani are four weavers who share a passion for weaving manchahas. This rug was their third manchaha creation. Seema and Shivanshi (Bittu) are a mother-daughter duo, with Shivanshi being the youngest of all. She had the most control over the ideation process, bringing new ideas to their loom every day. The other weavers looked up to her as a leader of the loom. The weavers shared that they weave everything by heart, with no pressure on their minds. Generally, they are given the most complicated carpet production orders with tricky designs, but weaving Manchahas gives them the relaxation they need to be free from their minds and open up their hearts. Their inspirations come from anything that catches their eyes, such as beautiful saree borders, patterns from their home tiles, bricks around, and even their own states of mind. Their way of expression is through intricate patterns. Although there were many designs on this rug, it came together as one. They loved the colors they received, which they describe as a wave of gold. Therefore, they named their rug "Sunehri Leher," meaning "Golden Wave."
