The Design Story
seedhiSeedhiFour weavers, Maali, Mamta, Lali, Kavita collaborated to bring this manchaha rug into existence. Initially, they were all weaving the same designs, but Kavita, sitting at the loom's right corner, wanted to weave whatever she desired. Being the youngest among the group, she motivated the others to bring their own creativity into designing their rug. Though initially, the others were more comfortable weaving the same designs, after seeing Kavita's innovative approach, they, too, opened up their minds. They started creating designs inspired by their embellished clothes. Kavita saw how they were opening up to change, then designed beautiful stairs from her end and told them to complete it. It was as if they were carrying beautiful things while climbing the stairs and reaching the top of their creative brains. This illustrates how one weaver can motivate other artists to do better. They all climbed the stairs of fear, self-doubt, and comfort zone, supporting each other while weaving their beautiful hand-knotted rug and calling it "Seedhi" after Kavita's stairs.
