The Design Story
taralTaralIn their Manchaha rug Taral, Mamta and Rekha beautifully capture the transformation of land during the monsoon season. It's the time when every seed gets a chance to awaken, to grow, and to bloom—when even moss begins to creep across old bricks. In Rajasthan, where the land often thirsts for water, the arrival of rain is like a celebration. For the weavers too, monsoon is their favorite time of year. They watch as the parched earth softens, the cracks begin to fade, and life reclaims the soil. This healing of the land is beautifully reflected in the rug's design. Splashes of blue signify the overflow of water, while the shifting greens and browns portray the once-dry earth soaking in new life. Through Taral, the weavers pay homage to the nurturing spirit of the rains—a moment of renewal, softness, and hope.
