The Design Story
sapno ka maidanSapno Ka MaidanIn the bustling warehouse of Surana, where the finest carpets took shape, Aayub spent years weaving intricate map rugs. But when he finally got the chance to create something of his own, his heart took him back to his childhood, when all he wanted was to play gali cricket. Every afternoon, he and his friends turned their lanes into cricket stadiums. The broken bat, the makeshift wickets, and the cheers of victory filled his childhood with joy. On match days, he sat glued to the television at a neighbor ’ s house, eyes wide with admiration, dreaming of one day playing for India. But dreams had a way of slipping through the fingers of those burdened with duty. As he grew older, the bat was replaced with tools of survival. His hands, once meant to swing a cricket bat, wove for a living. His passion for cricket faded into the background—until he sat at his Manchaha loom. With a newfound fire in his heart, Aayub poured his soul into his rug. He wove the symbols of his lost dream— the bat, ball, stumps, and at the heart of it all, a shining World Cup trophy. The crowning jewel of his creation was himself, draped in blue, standing tall on the pitch, playing for the Indian cricket team. Overcome with emotion, Aayub wove a beautiful kite soaring high in the sky—a symbol of the liberation he felt in creating something truly his own. With a heart full of love and fulfillment, he named his rug "Sapno Ka Maidan " (Ground of Dreams)—a tribute to the dreams that never faded, only waiting for the right moment to take flight.
