The Design Story
kanganKanganSuccess stories are beautiful. But we wrongly assume that a story ends when someone succeeds. The story goes on. This mother and daughter duo have creatively weaved this Manchaha rug and has named it ‘Kangan’ (Bangles) The reason behind the name is a success story. They won silver bangles when they designed 3D rugs for the first time in a contest of carpet designs when Royal Rajasthan Foundation collaborated with our company, and the next morning, they found themselves in front of the loom weaving the designs of the bangles. Even after a success, they returned to where they started. That's the beauty of a story like this. They received light colours of yarn to knit. They weaved net, flowers, and leaves on the carpet. Preeti picks some designs from a plate and copied them on the rug. They have weaved “Leheriya” as the season of monsoon was around. They have unique designs picked from muses like the english alphabet, maggie noodles and snake and ladder game and weaved them all over their hand-knotted rug. Alka says that in Manchaha. “Whatever gets spoiled, will be rectified.” There are no rules and that makes it special. This mother and daughter duo worships art in its mundane form.
