The Design Story
phoolon ki janjeerPhoolon ki JanjeerA flower falls, withers, perishes, and still blooms in the company of thorns. A flower blooms irrespective of its surroundings. This is what Sahajad shared while sharing the story of his Manchaha, “Phoolon ki Janjeer,” meaning “Flower Chain.” Being locked in jail, he strived not to let his creativity wither even if he is entrapped. In this hand-knotted rug, he has artistically made a chain with adjoining flowers and diamonds, showcasing the resilience he wants to achieve in his life. Along with this, Sahajad has also woven the roads of his village on both sides of the rug, tiny birds and butterflies, and his village farm with zig-zag patterns at the top. With this Manchaha, he decided to water his creativity like a flower so that it can bloom wherever it is planted. He wove his memories and aspiration to thrive even in confinement, which makes this Manchaha truly one of a kind.
