The Design Story
pravahPravah“Even through obstacles, a river keeps flowing, so why can’t we?” Meera Devi raised such a thought-provoking question while narrating the story of her Manchaha. She shared that the flow of the water inspires her in day-to-day life: It teaches us to be transparent yet deep, it teaches us to be calm yet roaring, and above all, it teaches us to keep flowing even through rough paths and stony obstacles. These learnings inspired the design of this hand-knotted rug. Filled with serene blue yarns, this rug features the traditional ‘leheriya’ (waves) pattern to showcase water. At the center of the rug, Meera has woven obstacles in diamond shapes with water portrayed around it. Inspired by this philosophy of perseverance amidst hurdles, Meera skillfully named her Manchaha “Pravah,” meaning “Flow.”
