The Design Story
gaon ki bastiGaon Ki Basti"Gaon Ki Basti" is a rug that invites you on a visual journey to Ajabgarh, the home of a remarkable mother-in-law and daughter-in-law duo who weave together. Their loom is uniquely positioned beside their front entrance, facing the road. This setup allows them to witness the vibrant life of the village as people pass by. From this unique spot, they watch the pulse of the village unfold: vegetable vendors calling out, curious women pausing to see their designs, children laughing and playing, and the neem trees lining the street swaying in the breeze. Sometimes, the world outside is filled with chirping birds and a chorus of sounds; at other times, it rests in silence. Inspired by this ever-changing view, the duo wove it all into their Manchaha. From oval huts and the central entrance gate to the tall water tank, winding roads, distant mountains, temple, and trees—every element of their village life found its way into the rug they lovingly named "Gaon Ki Basti" (The Village Neighborhood).
