The Design Story
khayalKhayal: Hanuman is a skilled weaver who loves to create manchaha carpets. He has spent over a decade in jail, which has had a profound impact on his way of thinking. As he started working on this carpet, he reflected upon his past life, including his time when he used to work as a labour in unloading trucks. He realized that he only did that work to make a living, and it wasn't something he enjoyed. Now, in jail, Hanuman is finally able to do what he loves, and this fills his soul with a sense of fulfillment. As he weaves his hand-knotted rug, he finds that his thoughts and ideas begin to flow freely, just like the patterns on his creation. His rug is a unique piece of art that he calls "Khayal," reflecting the freedom of creation and thought that he has discovered during his time in jail.
