The Design Story
sherSherMeena, a 39-year-old weaver from Karana village in Rajasthan, has been weaving for 10 years. She learned the craft from her mother and worked as a weaver while assisting with farm work. Her husband works as a mason to support their family, which includes their two children, Kanika and Daksh. Although introverted, Meena is warm-hearted and expressive once she opens up. Her favorite dessert is 'Gajar ka Halwa,' which she craves, especially since carrots are not readily available in her village. While others use carrots to make pickles or in their meals, Meena enjoys it as a sweet dish. Meena created a Manchaha dedicated to her favorite animal, the tiger. She used the texture and patterns of the tiger's skin as inspiration but incorporated her embellishments of flowers and plants to create a unique design.
