The Design Story
persian, iran (c.2000)1990, Persia (Iran). A kilim of 5'6 x 8'6, woven with alternating bands of mahogany and rose-petal tones. The field is enlivened with vibrant motifs in pink, turquoise, yellow, orange, and blue, scattered rhythmically across the stripes. Vertical stitch-like accents in bright contrasting hues break the order of the lines, infusing the design with energy and movement. The interplay of deep earthy grounds and vivid ornament gives the piece a lively, expressive character, showcasing the vibrancy of Persian flatweave tradition.
