In 1950, the Ghom region breathed life into this rectangular rug, measuring 4 by 7 feet, adorned with dynamic deep navy and forever blue hues. Rooted in traditional craftsmanship, this rug whispered tales of cultural richness through intricate patterns. City Story
Nestled 150 kilometers south of Tehran, beside a dried-up river, lies Ghom, Iran's second most holy city, renowned for its theological significance and religious heritage. Here, amidst extensive priestly education, rests the magnificent mausoleum of the eighth Imam's sister. Ghom's carpet-weaving tradition, dating back to the early 20th century, produces exquisite rugs known for their fine materials and meticulous detail work. Crafted with wool or silk, these rugs feature high knot density and intricate patterns borrowed from diverse regions of Iran. Some boast delicate silk accents, while others, like Silk-Ghom rugs, are entirely crafted from silk. Embellished with elegant garden scenes, majestic medallions, or intricate figural motifs, Ghom rugs captivate with their timeless beauty and artistic finesse. Despite being manufactured in various locales, they bear the esteemed Ghom name, synonymous with Persian craftsmanship and cultural heritage, sold under monikers like Ghome, Gom, Qum, Kum, and Qom, enchanting enthusiasts worldwide.
