tajik (c.1915)Antique Tajik Kilim with Geometric Design, Central Asia, circa 1915 Amber glow and twilight blue dominate the field of this antique Tajik flatweave, its surface arranged in a checkerboard pattern of alternating panels. Each compartment is filled with a bold diamond-shaped medallion, flanked by arrow-like extensions at the corners. The motifs, rendered in earthy reds, ivory, gold, and dark browns, give this a geometric rhythm. The borders are narrow and understated, defined by stepped edges that frame the repeated diamond devices. This rug reflects the Tajik tradition of strong geometry and color blocking, where diamonds and stepped forms symbolize protection and balance. Its lively interplay of amber and blue highlights both the tribal aesthetic and the enduring artistry of Tajik craftsmanship.
