The Design Story
rangoliRangoliWoven by Asharam, Kesharam, and Govind, this Manchaha is a joyful tribute to "Rangoli", the vibrant floor art made with colored rice powder that decorates the entrances of homes during festivals. Inspired by this tradition, the weavers began with a clear plan: a neat, geometric Rangoli design. But a couple of weeks in, the plan took a wild turn. Asharam and Govind, restless with repeating the same pattern, decided to break away from the symmetry. They started weaving more freely, scattering colors and shapes without any set order. Kesharam couldn’t help but laugh. He said, "These two ran through my Rangoli, just like I used to do as a kid, teasing my sisters while they made Rangolis with so much patience… and getting scolded and chased all around for messing them up!" That memory sparked both laughter and a touch of nostalgia. Instead of resisting, Kesharam let it go, and to everyone’s surprise, the scattered, unplanned designs brought a beautiful kind of chaos to the rug, more like an abstract Rangoli.
