The Design Story

pankhudi

Pankhudi
Chandrakala has crafted a vibrant rug as a heartfelt tribute to her three beautiful daughters, aged 15 months, 5 years, and 10 years. The girls actively participate in the creative process of making the Manchaha rugs, including the special Pankhudi rug, named after her youngest daughter. For Chandrakala, her daughters bring immense love and meaning to her life, a sentiment beautifully reflected in her creation. In the Pankhudi rug, she weaves a flowing trail of leheriya design, characterized by multicolored stripes. This design captures the sarees her daughters choose for her to wear and their playful requests for her to drape the sarees on them. These cherished memories are lovingly woven into the rug. To symbolize the three pillars of her life, Chandrakala incorporates three kites and three hearts into the design, each representing her daughters. This rug is not just a work of art but a symbol of love and celebrates the pure bond she shares with her daughters.
