The Design Story
kanak ki chahatKanak ki Chahat“Rekha and Pooja’s Manchaha carpet, “Kanak ki Chahat” traces the loving bond of a mother towards her daughter. As Rekha and Pooja finished their piece, Rekha’s daughter Kanak was mesmerized by the beauty of her Mother and Aunt’s creativity and moved by the grace and pride in her daughter's eyes they decided to name their Manchaha “Kanak Ki Chahat”. Rekha and Pooja seeked inspiration from their house door and have hand-knotted a flowing pattern that continues till the top. Rekha’s daughter Kanak loved that pattern and the distinct blue colors. She wanted her mother to weave the same thing on the other side of her Manchaha. However, Rekha took this opportunity to teach her child the importance of change in life and how it might not look beautiful at the beginning, but it does move us to a better position than where we are today. After seeing their finished Manchaha, Kanak could not believe that the two patterns would complement each other so beautifully. Rekha and Pooja’s Manchaha is a beautiful depiction of how everything in this world has its own uniqueness, be it design patterns or individuals.
