The Design Story
zindagiZindagiLaxmi Devi, a weaver from Kishanpura, carries her village within every Manchaha she creates. "Zindagi" (Life) is a woven map of her world, carrying her memories, dreams, and lived experiences. At the bottom of the rug stands the large tree outside her home, a familiar witness to her days. Beneath its shade rest her pet goats, and from its branches hangs a swing, her way of revisiting her childhood. At the heart of the rug is Laxmi’s loom, the center of her universe. It is here that she creates visual stories through her carpets, sharing her life with the world. The loom is flanked by day and night joined together, reflecting how deeply her time is bound to her work. A road on the right shows a parked car belonging to visitors who walk through fields to reach her home. The grand gate represents India Gate, recalling her journey to Delhi and her work at the Red Fort Gallery. Beside it lies a suitcase filled with dreams she carried beyond her village. They capture the moment her world began to expand. At the top of the rug, a broad road connects Laxmi to the world beyond, opening into limitless possibilities.
