The Design Story
khel ka junoonKhel ka JunoonGodhi and Sumitra's Manchaha "Khel ka Junoon" beautifully portrays their united love for their family and the World Cup. They both enjoy watching the matches with their families, even though they have never played cricket themselves. For them, the World Cup matches are a way to bring their village and families together. Inspired by this, Godhi has woven a large field in the center of the rug with two players batting, one hitting the ball and the other waiting for his turn to run. At the bottom and center of the rug, Sumitra has woven an audience cheering for the players. Godhi's son Ravi is a big cricket fan and seeking inspiration from the same, she has his initials woven into the bats, costumes, and small field-shaped patterns on the rug. On the left-hand side, Godhi has woven tiny droplets of water to show how matches are sometimes paused due to rain. Sumitra has also woven a first aid kit at the top right-hand side of the rug for players' injuries. Through their beautifully hand-knotted Manchaha rug, we can witness Godhi and Sumitra's passion and love for supporting their country during the World Cup.
