The Design Story
paragParagThis Manchaha, titled Parag—which means pollen—tells a story of a pollen and the quiet magic of nature. It begins with weaver Suresh, who starts with a vision of dry, cracked earth, like a barren desert waiting for life to arrive. His motifs are deliberate and minimal, reflecting the stillness of a land untouched. Onto this, Sawariya begins to plant the first signs of life, tiny, scattered motifs in vibrant colors that resemble young saplings and buds pushing through the soil. Then comes the turning point. A dark stretch of patterns emerges, like the night sky descending on the land, heavy with anticipation. This is where the magic begins. The pollens are released. Gentle, unseen winds sweep across, picking up the seeds, lifting them, scattering them across the land. From here, the rug blossoms into its second half, a celebration of abundance and rebirth. Patterns begin to sprout with rhythm and color. The dry land, once stark and waiting, is now soaked in new life. The motifs become fuller, bolder, layered—echoing the transformation of seed to sprout, pollen to trees. Suresh and Sawariya didn’t just make a rug, they followed a journey. They captured a quiet story of nature doing what it does best, surprising us.
