The Design Story
naya saveraNaya SaveraWhen Divya was little, she was scared of heavy rains. She would run to her mother, and Anjana would hold her close, saying, "The storm will pass, and then there will be peace." Those words stayed with Divya, and now, years later, she and her mother have woven that memory into a rug - “Naya Savera,” meaning “New Morning.” At the center of the design, Divya has woven the storm, a reminder of struggles and dark times. That design also carries motifs like an umbrella, flowers, and different diamond shapes. The weavers have also woven two different vessels at the bottom that collect the rainwater - a common practice in their dry village in Rajasthan. The background of the rug glows with warm orange and brown, mirroring the sky after the rain, full of hope and color. This rug carries a simple truth: no storm lasts forever. The darkest night will always give way to the light of a new day.
