The Design Story

samudra ki rani

Samudra Ki Rani
Mamta’s Manchaha “Samudra Ki Rani” (Queen of the Ocean) glorifies the presence of goldfish in the sea and how they enhance the beauty of the sea through their natural charm. Throughout her manchaha carpet, Mamta seeked inspiration from the ocean and weaved a vast ocean with the shades of blue, playing with her wool and silks. At the center of her Manchaha, she has woven a boat that is surrounded by goldfishes in orange yarn all over. Mamta’s daughter Khushi is very fond of goldfish and insisted her mother to weave them over the rug. Her daughter Khushi believes these fishes to be the queen of the ocean and names her mother’s manchaha as “Samudra Ki Rani”
