The Design Story
thoda meetha, thoda theekhaThoda Meetha, Thoda TheekhaSantosh and Priyanka found inspiration in their daily routine of going to the village water tank to fill their utensils. During their trips to the water tank, they observed the beautiful patterns on the sarees of other women in the village. Priyanka was especially taken with one particular design, which she later incorporated into her unique manchaha rug. The weavers' observant nature is evident in their ability to draw inspiration from their surroundings, even when not at the loom. Santosh also added her own creative twist to their designs by incorporating a chili pattern into her favorite shakkarpara. She observed that people often crave something savory after eating something sweet, so she used this insight to create a unique rug design. The duo combined their designs, including wavy leheriya patterns, to create an array of sarees and shakkarparas. They included design elements such as flowers, sweets, and diamonds in their hand-knotted rug "Thoda Meetha, Thoda Teekha." This name perfectly captured the theme of their creation: a little bit of sweetness and a little bit of spice.
