The Design Story
sunehra registaanSunehra RegistaanAnita, Krishna, Reshma, and Asha initially struggled to decide on a design for their Manchaha rug. They considered various ideas before deciding to let their creativity guide them spontaneously. Each day, they wove whatever inspired them in front of their loom. They began by creating a small staircase on their rug, followed by the surrounding mountain ranges of their village. Along with that, they have also added motifs of animals and peacocks. Inspired by the desert landscape of their remote village, they decided to represent it in their hand-knotted rug. They imagined the desert sand shimmering under the sun, giving the impression of a golden glittering expanse. With this idea, they named their creation “Sunehra Registaan,” which means “Golden Desert.”
