The Design Story
keedo ka gharKeedo ka gharDo you ever look at a problem and think of creating art around it? Well, Meera and Suman did it! They simply weaved the design of an insect that is often found in vegetables. But none can notice that the designs are actually inspired by insects. They artistically made the insects look like intricate designs. This Manchaha Rug is called “Keedo ka Ghar” or “Insects’ House” in English. Apart from the motifs of black insects, they weaved patterns and patches filling each one of them with a unique design. They were inspired by the chain that a groom usually wears at Indian weddings and weaved it on the rug. The hand-knotted rug had a detailed work process behind it as each knot needed the utmost attention. The ladies might not find insects in their vegetables one day, but creativity will always be found in their work.
