The Design Story
anjanaAnjanaThe only way to learn swimming is by jumping into the water. Likewise, the only way to learn weaving is by starting to weave a carpet. Lalchand jumped into weaving through this carpet. Having no clue what he was doing, he says how this carpet is “Unknown” (“Anjana”) to him. His inmates Manohar and Sonu taught him to weave with this carpet. The three of them spent their time together weaving patterns of lines. As he got comfortable with weaving, Lalchand shared how the whole weaving process was meditating for him as it allowed him to forget about the hardships of life in jail. His fellow weaver friends shared that while Lalchand took time to understand the very process, his interest and passion grew with each knot, which made them feel proud of him.
