The Design Story
takdeerTakdeerYou are born with countless possibilities, and your destiny is shaped by the choices you make and the actions you take. Vahid Ji, a former prisoner who became an artist, wove a Manchaha rug that beautifully illustrates the possibilities of life. This rug, filled with various motifs, represents the different choices life offers and the outcomes they bring. Through the motifs, he depicted life's ups and downs, acknowledging that he has faced more struggles than triumphs due to poor choices. He connected the motifs in the rug to the many distractions that life throws at us - temptations and detours that can pull a person away from their true path. He says in a simple way, "Life is full of ups and downs; keep your eyes on the road, and you will reach your destiny without even realizing it." He named his hand-knotted rug "Takdeer," meaning "Destiny." After almost 20 years in prison, Vahid is now free, thanks to his sincerity, kind nature, and the meditative qualities he developed through weaving.
