egypt (c.1890)Dating to 1890, this antique Egyptian rug, is framed by a distinctive border of repeating chevrons and a band of stylized motifs. The central field, rendered in a warm, muted tan, features a prominent circular medallion, meticulously adorned with intricate geometric patterns and scrolling 'marigold' leaves, all set against a deep 'navy' ground. Above this, a cartouche with calligraphic inscription.
