The Design Story
tiberiusA medieval Roman pavement, translated to wool. Tiberius takes its cue from the Cosmati — the Roman family of marble workers who, between the twelfth and fourteenth centuries, set the floors of the city's basilicas with disks of porphyry and green serpentine, ringed by interlacing borders and threaded with fine geometric inlay. The rug holds that architecture: large roundels in graded tones, a tessellated ground between them, and a tailored interlace border carrying the design to its edge.
