The Design Story
ka+laKa+LaKa+La is a hand-knotted wool and silk carpet which narrates the story of colors. Weaved with a bunch of black yarns, this Manchaha beautifully holds the existence of red in the little parts, upbringing the individuality of the color. Showcasing the essence of individuality and uniqueness, where the red stands out amid the dark background, symbolizes the strength and beauty of standing out in a crowd. They have named this Manchcha “Ka+la” (A combination of kala (black) and (Lal) Red), portraying it as a beautiful combination of how small strokes of red are dominant over a completely black Manchaha. Vandana, Savitri, and Ansa have weaved different patterns inspired by pots, leheriya, and cubes. The three shares a common love for Leheriya and have portrayed it on their carpet. This shared love is skillfully woven into the fabric of their creation, infusing their art with a common thread that celebrates them as artists.
