The Design Story
brahmand ki sairBrahmand ki SairSeeking to break away from traditional designs, Dhafali Devi decided to create something truly original. Inspired by her 8-year-old grandson's suggestion to weave a rocket, Dhafali recalled the pride she felt watching the Chandrayaan mission on TV. Driven by a sense of patriotism, she crafted this Manchaha with great enthusiasm. She has woven the entire rug in blue color representing the sky. The most special motif of this hand-knotted rug is the rocket woven with an Indian flag. Along with it, Dhafali has woven different stars, planets, the Sun, and the moon. Dhafali jokingly said that she would ride the whole universe sitting in this rocket. With this playful thought in mind, she named this Manchaha “Brahmand ki Sair,” meaning “Tour of the Universe.”
