The Design Story
haathon ki kalaHaathon ki KalaBimla Devi, a German Design Award-winning artist from a small village in Rajasthan, has woven many Manchaha carpets with her own imagination and skill. Because of her talent, she was invited to Delhi to share this art with people. Sitting at the loom, she welcomed everyone—customers, visitors, even complete beginners—to try hand-knotting a rug with her. For Bimla Devi, this carpet is not just her work. She says it carries the hands and hearts of many. Each knot is tied with someone’s feeling, dream, or curiosity. That is why she does not call it her own. She believes this is the carpet of people, woven together with many emotions, learnings, and thoughts. Wherever it goes, it will show the world the colours and artistry of the people who became a part of it. She named the rug “Haathon ki Kala,” meaning “The Art of Hands.”
