City Story
Sarouk rugs, originating from a village in Persia, gained popularity in the early 1900s with alterations such as vibrant over-dyeing. They feature classic designs like vine scrolls and arabesques, with blue weft threads and diverse color patterns. Renowned for their durability and thickness, they became sought-after in Western markets, particularly in America. "Painted Sarouks" emerged to meet American preferences for richer colors. These rugs boast a pile depth of 11 millimeters and a knot density of 9-12 knots per square inch. Despite variations, Sarouk rugs maintain a luxurious quality and enduring aesthetic appeal.
