City Story
Nestled 150 kilometers south of Tehran, beside a dried-up river, lies Ghom, Iran's second most holy city, renowned for its theological significance and religious heritage. Here, amidst extensive priestly education, rests the magnificent mausoleum of the eighth Imam's sister. Ghom's carpet-weaving tradition, dating back to the early 20th century, produces exquisite rugs known for their fine materials and meticulous detail work. Crafted with wool or silk, these rugs feature high knot density and intricate patterns borrowed from diverse regions of Iran.
