The Design Story
pahado ki shamPahado ki ShamShakuntala enjoys the monsoon season very much. She and her daughter have a lot of fun during this time - they dance, laugh, and enjoy each other's company. She also appreciates the pleasant evenings when the colors of the sky blend together to create a serene and calming atmosphere.Shakuntala Devi’s Manchaha “Pahado ki Sham” is a beautiful portrayal of the evening sky, colorful raindrops, and the mountains surrounding her village. Shakuntala is very fond of her culture and tradition and loves to adorn herself with Leheriya sarees. Expressing her love for the same she has woven patterns inspired by the same. She also hand knotted patterns inspired by her saree box on the top and bottom of the hand-knotted rug providing a resemblance of a frame. These mountains and the colorful raindrops weaved in wool in silk yarns portray the sense of belongingness and the joy she experiences being with her loved ones. Her Manchaha beautifully captures an evening sky that expresses comfort and calmness.
