The Design Story
utsavUtsav"Utsav - The Manchaha" is a celebration of new beginnings, Indian traditions, and culture. Manisha and Kanta have captured the pre-wedding rituals and initial preparations of a village wedding in their hand-knotted creation. The kalash, rangoli, sweets, gift boxes, and enlightened diyas all symbolize the wedding ritual or roka. The design reflects the beauty of Indian weddings and traditions beautifully weaved on this hand-knotted wool and silk rug. The half-dropping lighting represents the start of the initial preparations in the home, while the hearts showcase the love between two families coming together to form a new relationship. The colorful music system portrays the endless joy and entertainment through music and dance beautifully portrayed throughout the hand-knotted rug. Intricate circular dot patterns depict women wearing a lot of bandhej on this very occasion.
