The Design Story

mere baccho ki duniya

Mere Baccho ki Duniya
Sampatti Devi's manchaha represents her children's interests in her weaving. When she began making this rug, her children were very involved in the process and would bring her new ideas and thoughts about how to create different designs. Even after her children returned to school, they continued to share new ideas for the rug with her. Sampatti was thrilled to weave her children's ideas into the rug and was amazed by their creativity. She loved seeing the joy on their faces when she incorporated their wishes into the design. For example, her son suggested weaving tamarind trees into the rug, which he loves, and she also incorporated mountains, plants, and an abacus at the top, which her daughter had shown her after returning from school. This hand-knotted rug is a beautiful representation of the love of a mother for her children. Sampatti dedicated this rug to her children and named it "Mere Baccho Ki Duniya" (The World of My Kids).
